B.O.G.O.F to your local Non League ground this weekend

For those that normally hang around at the tea bars of Premier League or Football League grounds on a Saturday, this weekend offers a refreshing change and a chance to see grassroots football without it burning an extra hole in your already stretched matchday pocket.
In a shining example of how truly innovative the grassroot level of this sport can be, many clubs are offering special deals this weekend to season ticket holders of League and Prem clubs to show them there’s more to Non League football than meets the eye.
For example, Tooting and Mitcham United is offering free entry to any season ticket holder at a Premier League or Football League ground – a perfect Saturday afternoon out for any nearby Palace, Fulham or QPR fans kicking their heels.
Hitchin Town will give half of the ticket money earned from a Prem or FL season ticket holder to the local Garden House Hospice.
Forest Green Rovers are giving Football League season ticket holders 50% off – a tempting offer for fans of local rivals Cheltenham!
And Hendon FC in London is offering £5 entry to all Prem and FL season ticket holders – hoping to entice Gooners, Spurs, Bees and many more along.
Mickleover Sports in Derbyshire tell me its free for kids to get in for their game on the Sunday.
I’m sure there are many more exmaples. If I have missed you out, tweet me with your deal @marcwebber.
It is great evidence of innovation in a much-maligned sector of our sports industry.
It is all part of the second annual Non League Day, which this year is sponsored by McMilllan. You can find out more about it here http://www.nonleagueday.co.uk – there is a map there to show you where your nearest grassroots team is.
I hope all you Premier League and Football League fans will resist the urge to go shopping this weekend and go and watch some good football in great company.
And, no, you don’t have to bring your own jumpers – they’ve got goalposts already!
