Sport Psychologist (Professional Development Players) - Manchester City FC

Manchester City have an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner looking to advance their career in the delivery of sport psychology within a high performance environment, working as part of a supportive, and integrated psychology team.

Working within the Human Science team, the role holder will predominately provide support to players within the academy’s Professional Development Phase (age 16-23) and to Manchester City players currently on or approaching a loan deal.  This work will involve the implementation of core Human Science framework projects as well as 1-1 delivery with players. There may also be a requirement to visit players at loan clubs in both the UK and Europe.

The role will be a full-time position, we a are seeking a skilled and reliable addition for our committed and ambitious department. Flexibility and openness to work irregular and unsociable hours outside “normal office hours” will be required.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to;


  • Designing, leading and supporting delivery of performance psychology projects within the Human Science team across the Manchester City football teams as required
  • Working with players, parents, coaches and support staff to promote the delivery of performance psychology at Manchester City
  • Contributing to the development, delivery and monitoring within the discipline of performance psychology


Candidates will need to have a Postgraduate qualification to MSc or PhD level in Psychology or Sport Psychology and Professional accreditation with BPS and/or BASES.  

We are looking for candidates with Experience of the provision of psychological support to elite/international/professional level athletes and coaches to improve performance and support development.

Successful candidates will be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, and demonstrate motivation and passion for talent development environments.
