AFC Fylde community foundation strikes deal with Inspired Energy PLC to provide employability programme for 14-16 year olds

AFC Fylde Community Foundation is launching a new outreach programme to highlight local employment opportunities available to school leavers.

Launching in 2018, the sessions will be delivered to 900 14-16 year olds at over 40 local high schools, colleges and community groups and are designed to inspire young talent to remain in the Fylde area.

Participants will be able to benefit from a range of workshop activities, focusing on the opportunities available for workplace qualifications and education, such as apprenticeships, and the different employment options available to young people.

The new programme has been made possible as a result of a £5,000 donation from Inspired Energy PLC to the AFC Fylde Community Foundation with members of Inspired’s team also joining the Foundation to deliver the workshops.

Mark Dickinson, Chief Executive Officer, Inspired Energy, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the AFC Fylde Community Foundation to deliver this outreach programme, which will have such a positive impact within our local community.

“Together, we will display some of the different opportunities available to young people in the local area and encourage talented individuals to work and live on the Fylde Coast.”

Tom Hutton, director of community development at the AFC Fylde Community Foundation, added: “It’s important to help young people understand the different opportunities available to them after leaving school.

“Thanks to the support of Inspired Energy PLC, who are a huge local employer, we will be able to demonstrate the options available to young people living in the locality.

“Working with community partners is vital for our work and we’re confident this programme will help a significant number of children to start their working lives in the local area.”
