Barnsley Football Club’s commercial department were celebrating last week with the announcement that Nike will become their new kit supplier for the new season.
The new deal comes on the back of a number of commercial sponsorship deals completed by the club including a three year, six figure deal with new principal club sponsor CK Beckett.
Don Rowing, Managing Director commented on the new deal, "This comes at a great time for Barnsley Football Club. Nike is a world renowned brand and one that customers trust to deliver quality and style. With a new Club sponsor on board and the refit of our Superstore we will be able to better provide for our supporters a product that they will want to wear."
Michael Heslop Sales Director of Just Sport Pro Club, Nike's Official Football Partner said "We are delighted to be bringing the world famous Nike swoosh to Barnsley Football Club. We are very much looking forward to working with the Club in developing its retail business using the Nike Brand and hope it is the start of a long and successful partnership. Chris Beckett of CK Beckett speaking to BarnsleyFC.co.uk on the new deal said, "We have been involved with Barnsley Football Club since 2008 and are delighted with the way our Sponsorship has developed.
We were extremely proud when the signage went up on to the Pontefract Road end and it became the CK Beckett Stand and we will continue to name the stand for as long as we can.
"When the Club informed me that Barnsley Building Society's Sponsorship was coming to an end there was no hesitation or doubt in my mind in taking the next step and confirming that we would like our name on the front of the Shirts.
“Although it was great to see 'Barnsley' across the front you will not know prouder people than myself and brothers Kevin and Craig when the new 2011/2012 kit is launched with our company & family name across the front. We are truly privileged and honoured that Barnsley Football Club have granted us this opportunity."
Don Rowing, commented, "For the past three years CK Beckett have become an integral part of Barnsley Football Club and we are delighted to see them increase their involvement even further. To have a local Barnsley company become the Club's principal sponsor is excellent news and I hope that other local companies will follow suit and see the value of aligning themselves with Barnsley Football Club, the foremost brand in the town."
Barnsley have also announced Perrys Barnsley, home of Vauxhall, Citroen and Mazda in Barnsley, has extended their shirt sponsorship for a fifth, consecutive year along with Scaffold Services UK Limited signing a three-year deal to become the Short sponsors.
