Zagallo, a Living Legend, to Open and Speak at Soccerex Global Convention

Fri 18th Nov 2011 | Football Industry Events

Soccerex are delighted to announce that Brazilian Legend Mário Zagallo will be part of the official opening ceremony and will also give an exclusive 1-2-1 interview as part of the conference agenda at this year’s Soccerex Global Convention, 26-30 November, Rio de Janeiro.

Mário Jorge Lobo Zagallo or 'The Old Fox' as he is known to his players is a legend not only in his homeland but throughout the world of football due to his unique and glorious football career.  His tenacity and technique as a player coupled with his strategic vision as a manager has earned him a catalogue of international honours, the most significant being the fact that he is the only person in football history to have reached five World Cup Finals (58, 62, 70, 94, 98). He has won the World Cup both as player (58, 62), and manager (70) alongside numerous other achievements making him one of Brazil’s most celebrated figures.

Duncan Revie, Soccerex CEO commented ‘It is an incredible honour to have one of the most celebrated football figures, not only in Brazil but across the world, participate in this year’s Soccerex Global Convention... I am extremely excited!’

Zagallo will be joining the Governor of Rio de Janeiro Sergio Cabral and Soccerex Chairman Tony Martin for the ceremony on Monday 28th at 10.30am to mark the opening of the 16 edition of the Soccerex Global Convention.

Ricardo Setyon, Head of Media and Strategy Brazil, will take on the role of interviewer for the 1-2-1 session on Tuesday morning where delegates will be treated to a rare insight into Zagallo’s career both as player and manager.  Setyon will also be asking Zagallo his views on football today and which players he thinks hold the key to Brazil’s football future.

The Soccerex Global Convention is a five day business event consisting of a packed exhibition, a comprehensive seminar line-up, networking, a two-day football festival and evening entertainment all taking place in the Forte de Copacabana and on Copacabana beach.
