Hartlepool Unitedís Season Ticket Campaign Win Prestigious Award

Hartlepool United’s innovative season ticket marketing campaign won a prestigious prize at the annual Football League Awards which took place in London on Sunday evening.

The Club picked up the Perform Best Marketing Campaign award thanks to the incredible success of their 'Are You Coming To Pools?' initiative which made headlines nationwide for the unique way they attracted huge sales with a unique target-driven season ticket plan.

The campaign offered fans the chance to purchase season tickets for £200 if 3,000 were sold, £150 if 3,500 were sold and £100 if 4,000 fans bought in.

In the end they were overwhelmed, as nearly 6,000 season tickets were sold amidst a marketing campaign that included a video viral with H'Angus the Monkey which was seen by 30,000 on YouTube.

Hartlepool beat off stiff competition from Burnley, Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, Hull City and Walsall to land the highly-prized award and Chief Executive Russ Green was there to collect on the Club's behalf.

"We're thrilled to pick up this award - I think it's a welcome reward for the amount of hard work that was put in by everyone at the Club last summer," he commented.

"Every single person at The Vic pitched in and gave up hours of their own time to ensure the success of this initiative and we're proud to have been recognised by the Football League.

"I would also like to thank every one of the supporters who got behind the scheme; I'd like to think that it drew a closer bond between the Club and the fans which we can carry forward."

Established in 2006, The Football League Awards is an annual gala event which celebrates excellence both on and off the pitch. The event attracts players, managers and staff from League clubs as well as sponsors, partners and those wishing to celebrate everything Football League.

Greg Clarke, Chairman of The Football League, said: “The Football League Awards 2012 has given us another opportunity to celebrate success at League clubs both on and off the pitch. It gives us the chance to reward those who have demonstrated commitment beyond the call of duty or achieved great things. I would like to offer my congratulations to all the winners and all those who were nominated.”
