Liverpool Continue to Pioneer Social Media

Liverpool Football Club continue their pioneering use of social media becoming the first Premier League club to launch on the Pinterest network.

Pinterest, a website that allows users to create virtual pinboards where they can collect and share with the world the photos that have caught their attention on the web, has grown at an incredible pace. LFC's Pinterest's launch on Saturday followed another first for the club when, less than 10 days ago, it became the first professional team in the top flight to launch on Tumblr.

The Tumblr photo blog, already being followed by thousands of fans and entitled The Reds Gallery, allows supporters to enjoy some of the best unseen photography from the LFC archives stretching back over 100 years and provides a simple way to order prints and framed copies of all the photos featured.

Liverpool’s Pinterest site will focus on images that they will share with fans but unlike The Reds Gallery on Tumblr, which is a much more traditional and linear photo blog, they’re using Pinterest in the way it was originally designed - as an online scrapbook and pinboard where they share photos of the people, places and items.

The different themed LFC Boards on Pinterest aim to bring some of the club's history and passion to a new audience for the 21st century. With so much choice on the internet, the club recognise that today's young and new fans may not have time to read realms and realms of text about Liverpool's glorious past, present and future and that's why they’re always looking for new ways to interact with supporters online.

So far, Liverpool have set up nine themed Pinterest pin boards on their page which are hoped to appeal to a wide cross section of their supporter base and already thousands of fans are following many of these boards.
