New Appointments Enhance Wembley Stadium Board

Wed 4th Apr 2012 | Football Stadiums & Facilities

Gwyn Burr and Coline McConville have been appointed to the Board of Directors at Wembley Stadium.

The two new Non-Executive Directors have been appointed as Wembley looks forward to the fifth anniversary of its official re-opening this May.

Their appointments were approved by parent company The Football Association as they seek to make the stadium a world-renowned organisation.

Wembley’s business vision aims to offer the best stadium experience in the world and these appointments to the Board - with their collective expertise - will assist the delivery of this objective.

Melvin Benn, Wembley Stadium Chairman, said: “I welcome with huge enthusiasm Coline and Gwyn to the Wembley Board for the benefits they can bring in terms of knowledge and experience. They were standout candidates in the recruitment process and I look forward to working with them to create even more memories within the best stadium in the world.”

FA Chairman David Bernstein added: “I am delighted with the appointment of Gwyn and Coline to the Wembley Board.

“As a former Wembley Chairman and in my present role, I know how important the Stadium is to the future growth of The FA. I am also delighted that we have been able to build on the appointment earlier this year of Heather Rabbatts as the first female FA Board member, and the arrival of Julie Harrington last month as the Managing Director of our new national football centre at St. George’s Park. It is important that The FA and its prime asset Wembley have strong and diverse leadership.”

With the two new appointments, the Wembley Stadium board will comprise of:-

- Melvin Benn, Chairman
- David Bernstein, FA Chairman
- Phil Gartside
- Alex Horne, FA General Secretary
- Roger Maslin, Wembley Stadium Managing Director
- David Thomson
- Scott Martin
- Gwyn Burr
- Coline McConville
