QPR Launch Enhanced Cardiac Screening Programme

Wed 18th Apr 2012 | IT & Technology

Queen Park Rangers launched their enhanced cardiac screening programme this week with Samba Diakite visiting the BMI Syon Clinic for a routine cardiac MRI examination which has been designed especially for the club to ensure its players are at the peak of their fitness.

The cardiac MRI examination provides an indication of what happens to blood supply to the heart when demand on the heart is increased. This information helps in identifying the presence of any abnormalities that may require further attention or investigation.

Nigel Chandler, Imaging Manager at Syon Clinic commented: “Our partnership with QPR is something that highlights the level of skill and expertise available at Syon Clinic and we are proud to work alongside elite athletes who are at the peak of their fitness.“

QPR Head Physio Nigel Cox said “We are very proud to be associated with BMI Syon Clinic. When I first came to the club almost two years ago I made it a priority to establish a link with a service provider close to the team’s training base at Harlington.

“Fortunately for me, their Executive Director Graham Allen asked me to look at their new state of the art facilities. I was hugely impressed and delighted to be able to establish an agreement whereby Syon Clinic now provides a world class diagnostic service, both Musculoskeletal and Cardiac, to our elite athletes.

“Their service provision, adaptability to the ever changing elite sporting scenario, prompt and extremely friendly service is second to none. I can’t thank the entire team at Syon enough for their support, both on and off the field, which they have given me and the medical team at QPR FC throughout the season.

“I thoroughly recommend their services. The high level of cardiac screening, and its availability, is invaluable to the professional sports team, particularly in light of recent events within professional football.”
