MBNA Extend Chester FC Sponsorship

Chester-based credit card lender MBNA is strengthening its relationship with the club and will become its 'Principal Partner'. The deal is an extension to the two-year kit sponsorship MBNA has had with the club since its inception two years ago.

The partnership will mean the MBNA logo will continue to appear on the front of all first team home and away playing shirts and replica shirts. The new shirts, bearing the MBNA logo, will be unveiled in the summer.

Ian O'Doherty, Europe Card Executive for Bank of America which operates the MBNA brand, said:  "We are delighted to be strengthening our two-year relationship with Chester Football Club. We are a business that takes pride in supporting our local community and to continue this partnership for a further two years is an investment in the future of the club, a true community club that is so central to the city of Chester."

MBNA, based in Chester, is a subsidiary of Bank of America - one of the largest financial institutions in the world. It is also one of the UK's largest credit card lenders.

Ian O'Doherty added: "Sport and community investment has been part of the Bank of America culture for the better part of 130 years and this rich heritage is grounded in the bank's belief that sport, in particular, has a unique way of bringing people and communities closer together."

Chester FC Chairman Chris Pilsbury: "On behalf of the fans of Chester FC, I would like to thank MBNA for continuing their extremely valuable relationship with the Club, and further demonstrating their commitment to the local Community. We hope that the ongoing relationship will become a long lasting one, to the mutual benefit of both MBNA and Chester FC."
