Kick It Out Partners Grass Roots Football Show

Fri 27th Apr 2012 | Football Industry Events

The Grass Roots Football Show has announced an exciting partnership with Kick It Out, football's equality and inclusion campaign, and the Black and Asian Coaches Association (BACA), to promote the work of coaches from under-represented communities at this year’s event.

Taking place from 25-27 May at the NEC in Birmingham, the show will see Troy Townsend, Rehan Mirza, Anthony Ferguson and Marni Sidhu profiling their own talent whilst passing on advice and tips to aspiring coaches as they run a series of coaching clinics over the course of the three days.

Troy currently runs the S&T Academy in London and is well-known on the non-league scene having previously managed Ryman Division One North side Cheshunt and now defunct Leyton.

During his time as an assistant manager and first-team coach, the north Londoner spent time with Dover Athletic and Potters Bar Town, but enjoyed his most successful stints at Boreham Wood and Slough Town, where he helped guide both teams to the FA Cup First Round Proper.

Rehan currently holds coaching roles with Notts County’s Centre of Excellence and Nottinghamshire Schools’ Football Association (NSFA).

The British Pakistani coach has a wealth of experience extending across all levels of the game, and has previously managed a Pakistan International XI in a friendly against Woking FC. A qualified UEFA B licence holder, Rehan works nationwide to actively promote and support the work of coaches from minority communities in professional football.

Anthony pursued a career in coaching after his playing days came to an end at an early age.

Having initially plied his trade at the grassroots level of the game, he has been involved in professional football since 1997, and coached across Europe, Bangladesh and the Caribbean.

A qualified FA Tutor, Anthony is a key figure in promoting BACA’s message on a national level, and works closely with England Under-19s coach Noel Blake and The FA’s elite coaching manager Dick Bate.

Marni, a former ‘Volunteer of the Year’ for Blackburn and Darwen, has held numerous coaching positions across grassroots level in the north west.

Since the age of 14, she has spent time coaching youth and senior ladies teams, as well as Futsal and disability football, and has also played for Lammack Ladies, Bedworth United, Copsewood Ladies and Coventry Sphinx.

The Grass Roots Football Show 2012 is the biggest football event of its kind in Europe and takes place at the NEC in Birmingham between 25th and 27th May.

Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £6 for under 16’s. Buy your tickets today at http://www.grassrootsfootball.co.uk/tickets/
