App Allows City Fans To Lift Premier League Trophy

Mon 28th May 2012 | IT & Technology

Manchester City invites all its fans around the world to lift the Premier League trophy

The newly crowned Premier League champion’s unique use of digital technology to engage its fanbase will allow fans to lift the trophy thanks to an innovative Augmented Reality app on the Club’s website www.mcfc.co.uk  Try it here: www.mcfc.co.uk/liftthetrophy

For the first time in the Club’s history, fans can now see themselves hold up the most coveted domestic trophy in the world, in real time, cutting-edge 3D surroundings.

Victoria Stansfield, Digital Delivery Manager for City, said: “We first launched our augmented reality app last year following the FA Cup Final.  The response from fans world-wide wanting to lift the FA Cup was incredible; therefore it was only right we did it again, this time with Premier League Trophy.”

City fans will need to print off the special Premier League Trophy emblem from the website, and hold it to their webcams to recreate the glory, following the most climatic end to a season in the Premier League’ history.

Victoria added: “Our Membership cards with augmented reality markers let fans fly a 360 degree Etihad plane earlier in the year.  This season coming we intend to unlock much more digital content, allowing fans to interact with the Club like never before.”

The Premier League app will also be available in Arabic and coming to the UAE site soon. www.manchestercityfc.ae
