Maxim scores with Sunderland AFC

Wed 15th Aug 2012 | Marketing & PR

The Maxim Creative Group has ensured Sunderland AFC kick off the new season in style following a complete overhaul of its retail store at The Stadium of Light.

During the closed season, the retail fit-out specialists took the 3,000 square foot existing store back to its shell and embarked on a major refurbishment, ensuring a completely new-look for the store.

The refurbishment is the first step for Kitbag, the new retail partner for Sunderland FC, who will be operating the club’s retail channel from the 2012 / 2013 season. Kitbag was looking to update the store to ensure it matches the ambitions of the club and turned to The Maxim Creative Group to transform the retail space.

Utilising just the two club colours of red and white, the store has been updated with a clean, contemporary and minimalist design, offering attractive and easy to browse product displays, enhancing the shopping experience for supporters.

Large wall graphics of players, digital POS and video screens running content of matches bring the store to life and create an exciting retail environment for fans. While a new shirt printing facility enables customers to quickly and easily personalise their new shirt.

The Maxim Creative Group has undertaken the entire store-fit from initial design concepts, through to manufacturing every aspect of the store at its facility and completing the installation in-store.

Due to music concerts taking place at the stadium over the summer, there was a very specific window for the store refurbishment project to be completed so it was crucial the deadline was met. The team at The Maxim Creative Group took just 11 days from ripping out the existing store to handing over the new store, well within the given timeframe and ensuring minimum disruption.

Commenting on the project, Chris Bailes from Kitbag said: “We needed a retail partner that could project manage the entire process for us under quite tight time restraints and The Maxim Creative Group did just that. The fresh, new look for the store has been well received by everyone and we’re looking forward to offering fans a new-look store to enjoy throughout the season.”

Michael McVey, director at The Maxim Creative Group, added: “Football retail is what we know, we have completed several fit-outs for football clubs in the Premier League to the lower leagues so have the specialist expertise to provide the right solution. It was great to bring this knowledge and understanding to Sunderland FC and we hope everyone enjoys the store once the season starts.”
