Reading Appoint New Head of Scouting

Wed 3rd Oct 2012 | Football Club Management

Reading Football Club have appointed Steve Head as new Head of Scouting and Recruitment.

A vastly experienced and qualified football man, Steve has been working in the Barclays Premier League for more than 20 years, the last ten of which were at Fulham where he was their Head of Opposition Scouting and responsible for European scouting. Prior to that he gained a further ten years of invaluable knowledge at Southampton as under 18s coach in their very well-regarded Academy.

“Reading’s record in the transfer market is absolutely fantastic, a lot of credit must go to Steve Shorey and the boys who do a fantastic job," said Head.

"With the new ownership we are definitely a growing club who are looking to expand, build and develop into some of the European markets. It’s about improving on what we as a club are already doing.”

Steve, a UEFA A Licensed coach, also has a strong affinity with Reading having been on their books at Elm Park as a young professional. His key responsibility for the Royals will be European scouting, as well as their reporting systems and the expansion of the club’s scouting network.
