Arsenal Football Club has been recognised for demonstrating high standards in accessibility and providing a fully-inclusive experience for disabled supporters.
Emirates Stadium has received one of the first Centre of Excellence awards from Level Playing Field (LPF), the campaigning and advisory organisation that works across all sports to share good practice, raise awareness and promote improved access to sports stadiums for disabled fans and disabled people.
To qualify for the award, the club or venue must first commission an LPF Audit and demonstrate that it meets the requirements of existing equality and access legislation, building regulations and accessible sports grounds and stadia good practice standards.
Arsenal’s stadium and facilities director John Beattie said: “We are extremely proud to have been recognised in this way. Our aim is to make our stadium a welcoming place for everyone who visits and this shows we are getting things right.”
The LFP Centre of Excellence award builds on Arsenal’s commitment to drive an inclusive atmosphere through its Arsenal for Everyone initiative which celebrates the diversity of the Arsenal community.
Arsenal ensures that its disabled supporters can enjoy football with the best possible facilities at Emirates Stadium.
This includes giving disabled fans an unrivalled matchday experience with half-price season tickets for disabled supporters with accompanying carer, a dedicated matchday commentary service for visually-impaired fans, the creation of an audio version of the matchday programme, provision of a disabled supporters lounge and the Premier League’s only guide dog toilet.
