Aldershot Town FC Community Stand Officially Opens

Thu 28th Mar 2013 | Football Stadiums & Facilities

Aldershot Town FC will officially open their new community stand next week, which was made possible thanks to a £32,101 grant from The Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), the largest funders of non-league football in the country.

Funded with £6m each year from the Premier League, the FSIF is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game.

These improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.

Richard Petty, Associate Director of Aldershot Town FC, said: “I have been very proud to have been involved in this Community Stand project and for Aldershot to be the forerunners in a scheme that other clubs are now taking an interest in emulating is something that we can all take pride in today and in the future.

“We are very grateful also for the funding and support from FSIF whose contribution was a most important part.”

Peter McCormick, FSIF Chairman, said: “I am delighted that my colleagues and I have been able to award this grant to Aldershot Town FC to allow them to increase the capacity of the EBB Stadium to satisfy Football League entry requirements.

“FSIF staff work hard to make sure that the funding that is generously provided by the Premier League each year goes as far as possible and benefits as many clubs and supporters as it possibly can.”
