Opta Appointed as Official Data Partner of the Eredivisie

Wed 29th May 2013 | IT & Technology

The Eredivisie have appointed Opta as their Official Data Partner for four seasons, starting with the 2013/14 season.

As part of this agreement, detailed live Opta data and editorial will be used to power a wide range of Eredivisie programming including live broadcast graphics, wrap-around and magazine shows, interactive TV services as well as integration into mobile, tablet and game console applications and the official Eredivisie website.

The Opta live data service forms part of a new, fully centralised workflow at Eredivisie Live and will underpin the production of over 600 live matches.

Opta will collect, database and supply detailed tactical and positional analysis such as pitch-view graphics and integrated broadcast metadata. These products will provide an unparalleled level of information and integration for the Eredivisie, their partners and fans globally.

Jan De Vries, Eredivisie Content and Business Development said; “We wanted a partner who could fully integrate into our centralised broadcast production and across all our multimedia platforms.

“Throughout the tender process Opta demonstrated that they were market leaders in the sports data market and we look forward to their content and insight supporting our Pay TV channel.“

Opta was awarded the rights following a competitive tender process. Karl Hogan, European Business Development Director commented "We are delighted to be selected by the Eredivisie.

“The Dutch market is a key geography for Opta as the consumption of detailed sports data is established and consumers value the insight that data brings to their match week. This is a unique opportunity for Opta to work with a progressive rights holder and to provide a fully integrated service across multiple platforms.”

Opta has revolutionised the world of football data and now as the official data partner for the world's most innovative leagues including English Premier League and Football League, Bundesliga and MLS.

Live Opta football data includes every single on-the-ball action in a match and there are over 1,600 individual pieces of information recorded from every 90 minutes. Every action incorporates an x/y pitch co-ordinate and timestamp, detailing when and where it occurred on the pitch.
