OptaPro Named Official Data Partner Of Brazilian National Team

Wed 14th Aug 2013 | IT & Technology

The Brazilian national team, the most successful side in FIFA World Cup history, have named OptaPro as their Official Data Partner.

The agreement was cemented following a successful trial during Brazil’s victorious 2013 Confederations Cup campaign.

This partnership will see the Brazilian coaching and analysis staff using OptaPro’s suite of products and services to aid them with squad selection, opposition scouting and team analysis during the team’s preparations for the 2014 World Cup to be held in Brazil, as well as for the duration of the tournament itself.

Thanks to Opta’s recent expansion into South America, OptaPro can now offer fully detailed data on leagues and competitions including the Copa Libertadores, the Brazilian Campeonato Serie A, the Primera Division in Chile, the Argentine Primera Division and the Categoría Primera A in Colombia, as well as over 30 other leagues across the world.

The scope of Opta’s data coverage was invaluable for a coaching team tasked with monitoring players in many different leagues and countries across the world.

Thiago Larghi, Lead Performance Analyst for the Brazilian side and member of the CBF selection panel under manager Felipe Scolari, was enthusiastic about working closely with OptaPro, and sees the agreement as an integral part of the team’s future:

"We have chosen OptaPro because they are one of the best data providers in the world. We believe that it's an important tool for our performance in World Cup 2014."

Opta CEO Aidan Cooney was excited about announcing the partnership: “Working with a team as prestigious as Brazil is a great testament to the unique strengths of our professional analysis products, as well as our recent expansion into South America.

“We look forward to working closely with the team over the course of the 2014 World Cup”
