Stockport County Start Search For New Club Secretary

Mon 14th Oct 2013 | Football Club Management

Stockport County’s Club Secretary Tony Whiteside has announced that he will be retiring from Edgeley Park on November 15.

Tony has been working at Stockport County since the summer of 2010, having impressed during his previous role as Chairman at Woodley Sports.

Speaking of his decision to retire, Tony said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my three years at Stockport County, despite having arrived at a difficult time in the aftermath of administration.

“I have been planning my retirement for some time but I will be staying around to help with the handover to my successor, so there will be no disruption to the club’s governance, which is vital in order to achieve a seamless transition during this period.

“The time has come for me to hand over to someone who can continue to drive the club forward and help achieve its potential, but I will always be at the end of the phone if the club needs any help or advice in the future.”

County Chairman, Lord Peter Snape said, “I want to wish Tony all the best as he retires from the football club - after working so hard over the last three years for Stockport County he deserves some time to recharge his batteries.

“He has been a wonderful servant to the club and he leaves with the best wishes of myself and the Board of Directors.”

Chief Executive, Ryan McKnight, added “Tony has been an invaluable asset to me in particular, and more widely to everyone at the football club, and I want to wish him all the very best for a long and happy retirement.  In the next few days we will start the process to appoint his successor - not an easy task!”

Stockport are now advertising for a new Club Secretary, which will remain a full-time post at Edgeley Park.  Click Here for more details.
