Lord Coe Confirms Soccerex Global Convention 2014 Attendance

Thu 28th Nov 2013 | Football Industry Events

The Chairman of London 2012, Lord Sebastian Coe, has confirmed his participation at the Soccerex Global Convention 2014, 6-10 September, Manchester.

In an exclusive one-on-one session, the double Olympic-gold-winning athlete and leading sports administrator will be sharing his expertise on what it takes to successfully bid for, and host, a major sporting event and the work required to ensure it leaves a meaningful legacy.

After an outstanding athletics career, Coe made the transition to politics in the early nineties where he was then elevated to the House of Lords in 2000. He went on to become the inspirational figurehead of the immensely successful London 2012 Olympics and cemented his reputation as one of the most famous and highly regarded sports figures in the world.

Following the games’ conclusion, he has been in huge demand and with his ongoing support and commitment to the Olympic legacy, as well as a central consultation role for Rio 2016, he has firmly placed himself at the top table of major sporting events.

Duncan Revie, Soccerex CEO, commented: “We are absolutely delighted and honoured to have such a major Olympic and sports legend as Lord Coe speaking at the Global Convention next year. His expertise on bidding, winning and delivering such a successful London 2012 Games will be an invaluable opportunity for anyone involved with major events... and as he’s a regular at Stamford Bridge, we’ll also be looking forward to hearing his thoughts on Chelsea too!”

After 12 years on the road, the Soccerex Global Convention is returning to Manchester, the football club capital of the world.  Governing bodies and key football decision makers will attend the world’s leading football business event next September and FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter has already announced his full backing for the Convention this week.

“I am really looking forward to the world cup in Brazil and I am also looking forward to reprising its success at Soccerex in Manchester for the Global Convention in September.  I wish you all a great 2014 football experience!”, he said.

The Global Convention will provide a global showcase for the 30 different major football tournaments that will take place in the next four years, and will feature the primary mix of agenda-setting conference, exhibition, fantastic networking opportunities, social events and free two-day Football Festival taking place at one of Manchester’s iconic locations.
