Barclays Rewards Fans And Community Heroes
Wed 11th Dec 2013 | Marketing & PR
The most dedicated fans and those in the community that work hard for the good of the game helping others follow their football passions are to be rewarded this Christmas.
Barclays, title sponsor of the Barclays Premier League, is launching a new Twitter ticket competition to say thank you to those who make football what it is across the UK. Over the course of the season it will give away thousands of tickets.
To launch the competition, Barclays will be focusing on one Barclays Premier League club per day over 20 consecutive days from Wednesday December 11 to Tuesday December 30, and giving away free tickets for each club, kicking off with Newcastle United on the first day.
As part of the launch, Barclays will be visiting the Metro Centre in Gateshead on Wednesday December 11 and the Arndale Centre in Manchester on Friday December 13 with a surprise former Barclays Premier League footballer at each.
A Barclays zone will feature a large interactive Twitter wall and a Thank You Squad, who will track down shoppers and offer them the chance to win Barclays Premier League tickets to watch Newcastle United and Manchester United.
For the chance to win, fans anywhere can visit @BarclaysFooty on Twitter and tell Barclays why they should be chosen using the hashtag #YouAreFootball on the day their club’s tickets are up for grabs.
Barclays will be looking out for the best #YouAreFootball stories showing dedication to a club, passion for football or hard work to support community football.
David Wheldon, Managing Director of Brand, Reputation and Citizenship at Barclays, commented: “With all the excitement and the high profile of the Barclays Premier League, we can sometimes overlook the role those in the community play in helping others follow their football passions; whether its parents taking kids to games or coaches giving up their weekends to make junior football happen.
“They, together with dedicated fans following their teams around the country, deserve to be recognised and thanked for their efforts in making the game what it is, and we are delighted to be giving away Barclays Premier League tickets to them.”
The full schedule for the Twitter ticket competition is:
11/12 Newcastle United
13/12 Manchester United
14/12 Crystal Palace
18/12 Stoke City
20/12 Swansea City
21/12 West Bromwich Albion
22/12 Aston Villa
23/12 Cardiff City
25/12 Hull City
26/12 Manchester City
27/12 Tottenham Hotspur
29/12 Norwich City
30/12 West Ham United
Once the 20-day giveaway has come to an end, football fans across the UK can still win free Barclays Premier League tickets every day throughout the season by visiting @BarclaysFooty on Twitter or barclays.co.uk/youarefootball.
