Joe Kinnear Resigns From Role At Newcastle
Tue 4th Feb 2014 | Football Club Management
Joe Kinnear’s tenure as Director of Football at Newcastle United ended last night after the club announced his resignation.
Kinnear controversially took up the role following the departure of managing director, Derek Llambias in June 2013.
A statement released by the club read simply, “Newcastle United can confirm that Joe Kinnear has this evening resigned from his position as Director of Football with immediate effect.
“The Club will be making no further comment.”
This a far cry from Kinnear’s arrival in which he announced himself in the role in a shambolic radio interview days before an official announcement was made by the club.
Kinnear’s departure may have been hastened following a 3 nil defeat to north east rivals Sunderland at the weekend and an unsuccessful transfer windows in which the club failed to sign a replacement for Yohan Cabaye.
