Carson Yeung Steps Down As Chairman Of BIHL

Carson Yeung has stepped down as chairman and executive director of Birmingham City’s holding company, Birmingham International Holdings Limited (BIHL).

Yeung’s departure was announced in a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and follows the appointment of two new directors to the football club’s Board.

Shui Cheong Ma and Panos Pavlakis, who are already both members of the Board of Birmingham International Holdings Limited, join the club with immediate effect. 

A statement released by BIHL, said: “The Board of Directors of Birmingham International Holdings Limited announces that Mr Yeung Ka Sing Carson has resigned from all directorships of the group, including his position as an executive director with effect from 4 February 2014.

Yeung, owner of Birmingham City since 2009, and the club's major shareholder is currently awaiting the verdict, due on 28 February, of a money laundering trial in Hong Kong, an offence he denies.

Explaining the announcement, acting chairman Peter Pannu told bcfc.com, “Carson Yeung has taken this decision to focus more time on his on-going court case and to satisfy one of the requirements for the resumption of trading of BIHL shares.

“I will endeavour to update supporters further following the forthcoming EGM in Hong Kong.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Carson Yeung for his vision, dedication and generous support for the football club.”
