India Football Chief To Speak At Soccerex Asian Forum

Tue 25th Feb 2014 | Football Industry Events

All India Football Federation (AIFF) General Secretary Kushal Das has confirmed his participation at the Soccerex Asian Forum taking place on 13th & 14th May at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre, situated on the banks of The Dead Sea, Jordan.

At the forefront of one of football’s most prospective and biggest markets, Kushal will be at the Forum to discuss a number of key developments that are beginning to shape Indian football, including a dedicated grass roots programme and the creation of regional academies which recently led to the AIFF being named the best national sports federation by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

In addition to the development process surrounding Indian football, the commercial side of the market will also be on the agenda. With the announcement that India will host the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, the first major international football tournament to be hosted in India, and with Liverpool opening a new full-time coaching academy – as part of a deal facilitated at Soccerex -, India’s vast population and plentiful resources has made the country a genuine commercial opportunity for the football industry looking into new markets.

Ahead of his involvement, Kushal Das commented: “To have Soccerex staging an event in Asia is a great opportunity for us and the whole of the Asian market.  Indian football is going through an exciting transition, justified by FIFA’s decision to award us the 2017 U-17 World Cup; there is no better place than Soccerex to showcase the best of Indian football and the unique business opportunities our market offers.”

Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie commented: “It’s a great pleasure to welcome Kushal to Jordan for our Asian Forum and to listen to the fantastic work the AIFF has been carrying out. We’ve enjoyed a productive relationship with the Indian football industry which has highlighted the true potential the game has there and I’m certain that the Forum will open new doors and opportunities to one of football’s new frontiers.”

The Forum, held in partnership with the Asian Football Development Project founded and chaired by HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, will bring together the leading figures from the world of Asian football as well as other international football experts to discuss the development of the game across Asia. The conference agenda will include a review of the opportunities for growth and the challenges facing Asian football.
