Vauxhall Deliver Scotland International To Fans for Free

Mon 3rd Mar 2014 | IT & Technology

Scotland’s international friendly against Poland will be broadcast free on the internet courtesy of the Scotland team sponsor Vauxhall.

In a partnership between Vauxhall and Scottish newspaper, the Daily Record, the fixture between the two sides had been set to be a pay per view event until they stepped in to make it free for the fans.

Chris Hornbuckle, Head of Sponsorship at Vauxhall, commented; “We are delighted to have partnered with the Daily Record to deliver the Poland versus Scotland game to both sets of fans for free.

“The live streaming of the first senior Scotland international fixture is a ground breaking opportunity and a significant shift from the traditional model.

“It is an exciting time for Scottish football on the back of a strong finish to the World Cup campaign under Gordon Strachan and the game against Poland has an added dimension following the European Championship draw in Nice last weekend.

“Being able to deliver this game free for the fans in a unique partnership is something we are very excited about.”

As part of the live broadcast Vauxhall will also be engaging with the fans through their social and digital channels.

This will include a live twitter question and answer session at half time and the opportunity for fans to vote for their man of the match at www.vauxhallfootball.co.uk

Eugene Duffy, Managing Editor of the Daily Record and Daily Mirror, said: "We are delighted to be bringing this match to our readers who can watch it on their home computer or any mobile device completely free.

"The match is billed as a friendly but with the two nations now drawn against each in the 2016 European Championships the interest in the game has gone through the roof."

Fans will be able to watch the match for free on the Daily Record website (www.dailyrecord.co.uk). No registration is required.
