Barclays ‘Bank’ On Huddersfield Town

Worldwide brand Barclays Bank is the latest organisation to become an official commercial partner of Huddersfield Town.

With over 300 years of history and expertise in banking, Barclays – which has a branch in Market Street, Huddersfield – has joined forces with ‘The Yorkshire Club’ to focus on community engagement via the Town Foundation and business relationships via the Club’s commercial activities.

This official partnership is an extension of the work Barclays has already undertaken with the Town Foundation, the Club’s official registered charity, within the last 12 months.

Barclays match-funded the Town Foundation’s fundraising efforts with fellow club partner West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service via its Huddersfield Fire Station Open Day in July 2013.

Staff from the Huddersfield branch also gave the charity a hand in running the November 2013 ‘Ladies who Lunch’ event.

On the business side, Barclays staff will become a presence in the prestigious White Rose Club and Spring Partners Suite on Huddersfield Town match days, with the unmistakable Barclays brand being advertised on the John Smith’s Stadium Big Screen too.

Stuart Stocks, Senior Barclays Business Manager, was part of the panel at the ‘Buy Kirklees’ Huddersfield Town Enterprise Academy event recently.

Recently staff from Barclays held a Financial Clinic for Town’s squad at PPG Canalside, encouraging them to prepare for life after their playing careers are over.

Another event is also in the planning stage that will use this new partnership to reward valued Barclays customers.

Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis, Club Ambassador Andy Booth and the Town Foundation’s Corporate Fundraising Officer Mandy Taylor joined Janet Bradley, Stuart Ambler, Nigel Mochrie, Julie Drake and Matt Caie at the Market Street branch to celebrate the new deal.

Town’s Sean Jarvis admitted he is delighted with this new partnership:

“I believe it is testament to the growing reputation Huddersfield Town has as a pivotal cog in the local business community that an organisation as successful and with such stature as Barclays would want to enter a partnership with us.

“Barclays have already been a superb organisation to work with over the last 12 months; one that shares our focus on making a difference in our local community and in building relationships with fellow successful local businesses.

“I expect that our two organisations will now work even closer together over the coming weeks, months and years towards those shared goals.”

Stuart Ambler, Branch Manager – Barclays Huddersfield commented:

“Over the last 12 months we have been successful in developing our relationship with the Town Foundation and see the affiliation with Huddersfield Town as an enhancement to our strong relationship that has emerged.

“Huddersfield Town Football Club is an integral part of the community in Huddersfield and in strengthening local relationships and partnerships. Barclays hopes to connect with the local community in much the same way.”
