BT Sport Gives Backing To Supporters Summit

Mon 14th Jul 2014 | Football Industry Events

The Supporters Summit, a joint event by Supporters Direct and the Football Supporters Federation today announced BT Sport as the new Title Sponsor for the leading football fan event of the year at Wembley Stadium, London.

The annual event invites supporters from clubs up and down the country from the Premier League to Non-League, to debate and discuss the issues that matter most in the game.

Mark Bullock, Commercial Manager, Supporters Direct commented: "We are delighted to announce that BT Sport will be the Title Sponsor of the Supporters Summit this year.

“This support, from a leading broadcaster in the sports industry, allows us to build on the success of recent years and deliver an event which truly empowers fans to make their voice heard. “

Also supporting the event will be The Supporters Club, BT Sport’s initiative which aims to build a better world through sport. When customers sign up to BT Sport, they are able to make recurring monthly subscriptions to The Supporters Club to help support projects and charities in the UK and overseas. In its first year, £2.5 million has been raised from BT Sport customers and BT to fund 13 sport-inspired community projects.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: “BT Sport is delighted to back The Supporters Summit later this month. Connecting with fans is at the heart of everything we do at BT Sport and we wish attendees and the event organisers every success as they seek the best for football going forward.”

The event provides an opportunity for likeminded fans to help change football for the better, and will include workshops focussed on the treatment of away fans, protecting the identity of clubs and other areas such as financial fair play, club licensing, diversity and supporter liaison.

The Supporters Summit will be held at Wembley Stadium on the 26th July 2014.
