Leeds United match beamback a huge success at Brighton and Hove Albion

The beamback of Leeds United versus Brighton and Hove Albion proved to be a huge success with 300 Seagulls supporters watching the match in the Heineken Lounge at the Amex Stadium.
The Brighton fans were the first supporters to be offered the opportunity to watch coverage of their club playing away from home during midweek as part of a new broadcasting initiative by The Football League, and two further trial matches have been announced.
Following the installation of a fibre-optic network that will eventually link all club stadiums, matches can now be beamed back to grounds, live in HD, at a fraction of the previous cost. As a result, clubs may now enter into agreements that will enable the away club to broadcast the match for the benefit of its own fans.
Currently, this opportunity is open to clubs in the Sky Bet Championship, with Sky Bet League 1 teams being connected to the fibre-optic network during the course of the current season and those in Sky Bet League 2 during 2015/16.
Albion legends Guy Butters and Adam Virgo were in attendance at the Amex to watch the match, which Sami Hyypia's side won 2-0, and the pair praised the initiative.
Virgo told seagulls.co.uk: "Fans can't afford to go to every single away game. I hope that the club can do this on a regular basis because there will be a huge turnout every time."
Butters added: "It's fantastic. There were so many people in the crowd watching the game and I would like to think it's something the club can expand on in the future."
