Former Chelsea Star To Share Knowledge On Financial Fair Play

Aleksei Smertin, Chelsea’s former Russian defensive midfielder, will make up the World Football Forum line up this November.

He will be take part in the session on UEFA’s Financial Fair Play Regulations to which he has gained deep knowledge of through his time working in top Russian clubs.

Smertin had a glittering career as a player, achieving major honours at all the clubs, including Chelsea FC, Bordeaux , Lokomotiv Moscow and Dynamo Moscow. He was the captain of the Russian national team, earning 55 caps from 1998 to 2006 and representing Russia at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2004.

Now working off the pitch, Smertin is taking all of his knowledge of the game to board room, as adviser to the President of Dynamo Moscow.

Also confirmed to speak the event held in Moscow on November 13, are two of Europe’s top digital and social media experts. Oscar Ugaz, the former Head of Digital Business at Real Madrid and Tiago Marques, Chief Digital Officer at Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

In 2007, Mr Ugaz was appointed as Digital Business Manager at Real Madrid C.F. From this position, he led the implementation of the ecommerce business, the commercial strategy of official web portals and online video and social media strategies for the club.

Mr Marques is a Social Media Marketing Advisor, Trainer & Business Innovation Strategist. With his help, Sport Lisboa e Benfica managed to adapt to the new paradigm of digital marketing.

Both men will exchange their ideas and experiences of the industry and how this has helped the growth of two of Europe’s biggest and most successful clubs.
