SAFC Amongst The Cream Of The Crop

Fri 19th Sep 2014 | Football Industry Events

Sunderland AFC has been shortlisted for a number of prestigious industry awards, including one for its dynamic and creative season card marketing campaign.

Sunderland is amongst a host of top clubs to be shortlisted for the Best Club Marketing Campaign, in the Football Business Awards, for its #SAFCLegends 2014/15 season card campaign.

Focusing on how valued the Sunderland AFC faithful are, the campaign immortalised the fans as the true legends of SAFC. This included print adverts of fans pictured as statues, a personalised season card pack and SAFC players contacting fans telling them they were legends.

The campaign was shortlisted by an illustrious judging panel selected for their individual experience and expertise in the categories covered.

Sunderland’s Stadium of Light has also been nominated in the category Best Non-match Day Use of Venue, after staging a number of high profile concerts with some of the biggest names in world music and hosting the annual University of Sunderland graduation ceremonies.

Gary Hutchinson, commercial director at Sunderland AFC, said: “We are working hard to develop the club both on and off the field and we are thrilled that the club has been recognised by the judging panel at the Football Business Awards.”

Sunderland AFC’s charity, the Foundation of Light, has also been named as one of nine finalists in the Best Football Community Scheme category at the awards. The charity, which works with over 42,000 young people and families each year, across the North East, is the biggest football community scheme in the UK.

The Football Business Awards recognises many of the unsung heroes behind the scenes who help to shape the whole football industry. The annual event is designed to celebrate success and reward innovation off rather than on the field.
