Newcastle United Duo Launch Kids' Business Challenge

Newcastle United pair Paul Dummett and Rob Elliot have launched a competition which will see local children generating ideas to enhance the matchday experience for families at St. James' Park.

Magpies fan Dummett and goalkeeper Elliot, who grew up as a Charlton Athletic supporter, were at the city's Studio West School - which is part of the of Kenton Multi Academy Trust, Dummett's old school - to help students with their entries by answering questions based on their own experiences not as players, but as supporters.

Now in its sixth year, the Premier League Enterprise Challenge is supported by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and has become an important milestone in the Premier League Communities events calendar. More than 8,000 young people have taken part in the Challenge to date.

A number of schools across Tyneside will take place in the Challenge and teams consisting of five students will compete in regional heats in November and January for the opportunity to represent Newcastle United at regional final in March and, should they progress, a national final in London in April 2015.

Senior project officer, Kate Warner, said: "The Premier League Enterprise Challenge is a fantastic way to get young people thinking about real life business challenges, giving them the type of experience which will be hugely beneficial in the workplace in future.

"The Newcastle United Foundation continues to harness the power of football to inspire youngsters and to enhance their skills and Paul and Rob sharing their time with Challenge participants will give get their entries off to a great start."
