Eurosport to Broadcast First Edition of Indian Super League

Eurosport has acquired the pan-European rights* to the first edition of the Indian Super League of football and will broadcast live 16 matches of the opening season between October 12 and December 20 (Final) on Eurosport 2.

International ex-professional players, such as David Trezeguet (FRA), David James (ENG), Nicolas Anelka (FRA) and Freddie Ljungberg (SWE), will participate in the event, designed to help increase the profile of football in India.

The event is co-promoted by IMG Reliance and Star India and includes eight Indian franchises with 22 players in each squad**:

Nicolas Anelka (FRA), Freddie Ljungberg (SWE) – Mumbai City FC
David Trezeguet (FRA) – FC Pune City 
David James (ENG) – Kerala Blasters FC 
Alessandro Del Piero (ITA), Kristof van Hout (BEL) – Delhi Dynamos FC
Robert Pirès (FRA) – FC Goa 
Marco Materazzi (ITA), Elano Blumer (BRA), Mikaël Silvestre (FRA) – Chennaiyin FC 
Luis Garcia (SPA) – Atletico de Kolkata 
Joan Capdevila (SPA) – Northeast United FC

Eurosport has a long tradition of broadcasting emerging sports and events with strong potential and 
international interest, including youth and women's football.

The inaugural match of the Indian Super League will be played at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata on Sunday, October 12. Eurosport will broadcast it live on Eurosport 2 at 15:30 CET. Atletico de Kolkata vs. Mumbai City FC.

**1 foreign marquee player, 7 foreign players, 14 domestic Indian players and 4 local Indian players.
