Ronaldinho’s Querétaro FC Sign Up For Soccerex Americas Forum

Thu 16th Oct 2014 | Football Industry Events

Arturo Villanueva, Vice President of Querétaro Futbol Club, the club that recently signed the masterful talents of Ronaldinho, has confirmed his participation at this month’s Soccerex Americas Forum, 21-22 October, taking place at the renowned Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in Barbados.

Villanueva will be joining Philadelphia Union founder, CEO and operating partner Nick Sakiewicz in leading a debate titled ‘The Game of Opportunity’ that will focus on the trials and tribulations of running a professional soccer club with particular focus on the challenges arising in areas such as sponsorship, fan engagement and international expansion.

Ronaldinho’s transfer to the Mexican top flight in the summer close season has greatly increased the profiles of both Liga MX and Queretaro FC.  The former Ballon D’Or winner was a major coupe for Villanueva’s side that is looking to use their ambitious acquisition as a platform for a more stable future.  Before the Brazilian had even kicked a ball, Queretaro declared that they had already sold out of Ronaldinho replica shirts a feat usually unheard of in the Mexican League.

With Sakiewicz’s wealth of experience accumulated through twenty years as an MLS executive and founder of the Union, the session promises to provide an exciting angle into the world of club directorship.

Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie commented: “The signing of Ronaldinho turned the heads of many football fans this summer and we are delighted to welcome Arturo who will be giving an exclusive insight into the most exciting deal in the league’s history. We are very excited this panel will be bringing their expansive knowledge and industry experience to the event which looks set to be a great couple of days.”

Villanueva and Sakiewicz will be two of a number of industry leaders speaking at the Americas Forum with high profile names such as CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb, MLS Medical Coordinator John Gallucci, former FA and Arsenal Vice Chairman David Dein, MLS Commissioner Don Garber, CEO of 2014 FIFA World Cup LOC Ricardo Trade and FIFA & CONCACAF ExCo member Sonia Bien-Anne joining former Manchester United and England legend Bryan Robson amongst many others.
