Work has recently been completed by SIS on two new 3G pitches at Championship side Derby County F.C’s training centre.
The Cumbrian firm began work on the new pitches in early August at The Moor Farm Training Centre, with works completed in early October.
Work included installing a new outdoor pitch with spectator area and resurfacing an existing indoor pitch at the facility.
SIS Pro Soccer 50 was installed for both pitches, along with 15mm shockpad to the pitch which was laid in situ using the SIS mini paver, which is part of SIS Pitches’ specialist machinery used to install these type of pitches.
Simon Mroczek from SIS Pitches oversaw the project: "Working at a prestigious club such as Derby County was great opportunity for myself and SIS Pitches."
With their new indoor and outdoor SIS 3G synthetic surface playing a big part in their plans to bring this Academy up to a category ONE facility, this felt like an excellent achievement.’
New lighting and fencing systems were also installed by SIS with installation of 4.5 metre high twin bar rebound fencing to the perimeter and installation of 1.2 metre high twin bar rebound fence to the spectator area both powder coated green. Eight 15 metre high columns and lighting were also installed.
Darren Wassell, Academy Manager at the club is extremely pleased with the completed works, stating: "The full size outdoor floodlit pitch will completely revolutionise our Academy winter training programme.
"Our Under 9’s – Under 16’s age groups will now be able to train throughout the winter months knowing that their training hours will be guaranteed on our state of the art new surfaces. The space and quality of surface created will allow all age groups to train onsite and outdoors for the first time in our Academy's history.
"Also due to the floodlights we will now be able to host schoolboy evening fixtures at our Moor Farm Training Centre and any trial games that we deem necessary.
"The Under 18’s and Under 21’s squads will also have daytime access to the facility and so whenever the grass pitches are too wet they will be able to continue with their extensive training programmes.
"The first team will also have access to the facility whenever required.
"The quality of both the indoor and outdoor surfaces means that all players at the club now have access to first class playing surfaces throughout the whole season for the very first time."
A new five-a-side pitch is also under construction, and SIS Pitches will be heading back to Derby County to complete this in November.
SIS Pitches have also recently carried out works at training facilities for Manchester United, local team Carlisle United and also at Pennyhill Park Hotel which is used for training by the England Rugby Union team.
