Football Brands Lining Up to Score at Sports Technology Awards

Mon 17th Nov 2014 | Football Industry Events

Football clubs have been at the forefront of adopting many technological advances in the sports sector, helping them connect with fans and improve the performance of their players better than ever before.

This work is now being formally assessed and celebrated at the Sports Technology Awards (STAs), which return on 27th March 2015.

The STAs, the first awards globally to celebrate outstanding advances within the sports technology sector, was launched last year and saw leading clubs such as Manchester City, Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers earmarked as sector leaders.

The 2015 awards has been reviewed with dedicated categories for venues, fan engagement, equipment, ticketing and CRM databases up for contention.

Judging the awards are some of the biggest names from international football, including David Dein, England football physio, Gary Lewin and former international referee, Graham Poll, with each judge assessing entries which lie within their area of expertise.

Speaking about his involvement in the awards, Gary Lewin said, ‘Today’s sport is different and the big difference is technology. It is a constantly evolving influence on the way we enjoy, train, participate and run the business of sport.

From the conversations I have had, most judges who are involved in the awards care passionately about knowing what is going on in this area and the STAs gives us an unrivalled ability to do this.’

Over 130 brands from around the world entered the 2014 awards. Entries for 2015 are now open with the deadline closing on November 30th 2014.
