Liverpool’s long and protracted wait to begin work on the redevelopment of their home, Anfield will finally be over with work set to begin on Monday (8th Dec).
After a long and drawn out process work will finally get underway on Liverpool’s home ground, Anfield which will see an extra 13,000 seats added to the stadium’s Main Stand and Anfield Road End.
Forming part of the wider regeneration of the Anfield area the work is expected to be completed in time for the beginning of the 2016-17 season.
The £260m scheme in partnership with Liverpool City Council is expected to create 360 new jobs and bring in an extra £14.5m to the Liverpool area annually.
Once complete, Anfield will have a capacity of over 58,000 and is expected to provide a major boost the club’s revenues.
Speaking to BBC Merseyside, fcbusiness journalist, Alex Miller said the expansion could generate an extra £25m per year for the club.
"It's seriously big money and it will allow them to close the gap on the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal," he said.
