Tottenham Launches Spanish Language Website

Tue 16th Dec 2014 | IT & Technology

Tottenham Hotspur continues its expansion into new territories with the launch of a dedicated Spanish-language website in recognition of its growing fanbase across Spain and Latin America.

The new website gives Spanish-speaking supporters access all the latest club news, interviews and special features in their native language at tottenhamhotspur.com/es.

With an estimated fanbase in excess of 50 million within Spanish-speaking territories, the new platform follows the launch of localised social media channels for this demographic last month with over 700,000 Spanish-speaking supporters following the club on its official Facebook page.

The appointment of former Argentinian international defender, Mauricio Pochettino, as Head Coach, as well as the popularity of players such as Erik Lamela, Paulinho, Federico Fazio and Roberto Soldado, has helped the club increase its following throughout Latin America especially.

Pochettino said: “Growing up in Argentina, Tottenham Hotspur has traditionally had a huge following across Latin America, especially since Argentinian greats Osvaldo Ardiles and Ricardo Villa joined the club in the late 1970s and became legends at White Hart Lane, driving greater interest in the English game from this part of the world.

“It is great to see that this fantastic support for the team continues not only in Spain and Latin America, but across the world, and a dedicated Spanish-language website will no doubt bring many more fans closer to the Club than before.”

Tottenham Hotspur is continuing to increase its digital offering to a growing global fanbase throughout the season, with the Spanish-language site the latest in a series of developments.

The North London club has an estimated global following in excess of 400 million, with over 100 Official Supporters Clubs in 40 countries across the world.
