Londoners Buy More Newcastle Shirts Than Geordies

Newcastle United fans are renowned for their loyalty and support of their beloved Magpies, but when it comes to shirt sales; it’s the capital’s football fans that are snapping up the famous black and white stripes.
Figures released by Sports Direct show that it is not Mr. Ashley’s shops within a stroll of St. James’ Park that sell the most Newcastle shirts.
Instead it is the London branches of the club;s billionaire owner that sell the most NUFC replica shirts, with stores in the capital accounting for almost a third of its Newcastle United shirt sales, the city of Newcastle coming in second with almost 21% of sales.
According to Newcastle fanzine, The Mag, many fans are so fed up with Ashley’s running of the club that they even refuse to buy the replica shirts, with Wonga’s presence not helping either.
