As the FA Cup Fourth Round concluded with Liverpool's win at Bolton Wanderers, record attendance figures have been revealed.
More than half a million people passed through the turnstiles to watch Cup football between 24 January and 4 February, with the average attendance reaching a 37-year high.
Highest Fourth Round averages since 1978
- 1977-78: 28,429
- 2014-15: 25,761
- 1980-81: 25,447
- 2006-07: 25,206
- 2008-09: 24,072
With upsets aplenty, the 2014-15 FA Cup Fourth Round will go down as one of the most memorable in the competition's history.
And 515,229 people will be able to say they were there.
It was just the second time in 23 years, and the third in 33, that the total attendance figure surpassed the half-million mark.
The highest single-game attendance was for Manchester United's 3-0 victory against Cambridge United at Old Trafford, where 74,511 witnessed The U's FA Cup adventure come to an end.
There were crowds in excess of 40,000 at Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City – while all but three ties recorded gates under 10,000.
The average attendance of 25,761 was the highest in the Fourth Round since the 1977-78 season, when it reached 28,429.
Meanwhile, the average attendance for the season is up a third on the same stage compared to the 2013-14 season.
