Everton Scoop North West Football Awards Hat-Trick

Everton have scooped a North West Football Awards hat-trick, winning the ‘Goal of the Season’, 'Women’s Rising Star of the Year’ and ‘Best Club Marketing’ prizes.

Captain, Phil Jagielka’s stunning Premier League strike in the Merseyside Derby at Anfield was voted, by fans, on Twitter as ‘Goal of the Season’ while judges decided Everton Ladies’ Gabby George was ‘Women’s Rising Star of the Year’ and the emotive ‘We Are Chosen’ Season Ticket campaign was worthy of the prize for ‘Best Club Marketing’ campaign.

The Point, Emirates, Old Trafford, home of Lancashire County Cricket Club was the venue for the MBNA sponsored North West Football Awards which celebrate the region’s brightest and best in the game.

The Everton captain’s 30-yard strike at the Kop end was given the award after winning the public vote, beating off the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Juan Mata to land the prize. 

Everton Ladies and England Under-19 defender, Gabby George, won the ‘Women’s Rising Star of the Year’ award beating stiff competition from Nikita Parris (Manchester City) and Maz Pacheco (Liverpool).

Speaking ahead of the awards Gabby George, said: "It's exciting, and nice, to be recognised in the North West as one of the Rising Stars. Everton have been vital to why I have been nominated by giving me the opportunities I have had.” 

The Club launched its heartfelt 2015/16 Season Ticket campaign entitled ‘We are Chosen’ in late February, drawing inspiration from the mantra “Evertonians are born not manufactured. We do not choose, we are chosen.” 

The campaign brought the verse to life and attributed meaning to the words using powerful imagery of real fans. 

Richard Kenyon, Director of Marketing and Communications, said: “The feedback we received from the campaign showed the impact we made with the fans. 

“As well as the creative team at Everton and their innovation in approach, it is the fans we need to thank for this award. They not only got involved in the campaign but really got behind it.

“The campaign was designed to make Evertonians proud to be Blue and to show that being a supporter of this Club isn’t just about coming to matches but it’s an important part of everyday life.”

The Blues have now won awards for their Season Ticket campaigns for the past three years with ‘Best Club Marketing Campaign’ awards for ‘We are Chosen’ in 2015, ‘Make it Everton’ in 2013 and ‘Best Sponsorship and Engagement Marketing’ award for ‘We are Evertonians’ in 2014.
