Roberto Martinez helped Chief Executive, Robert Elstone launch the Everton Business Club at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool this week.
The Blues’ boss was joined on stage by Elstone as the pair discussed the challenges of building and leading a team on and off the pitch to over 150 guests to mark the launch of the new Everton Business Club, which offers Evertonians the chance to network and do business with fellow Blues.
Business club members were entertained by the Everton Manager as he recalled getting to grips with English football following his move to Wigan Athletic while still a player.
Martinez also discussed his approach to managing the international nature of a modern day dressing room and what he looks for when targeting new players.
Everton Business Club members also heard from Robert Elstone who spoke about his background and career route into his current role, which began away from football at a Rugby League club in Yorkshire.
The Blues’ CEO explained the differences between running a Rugby Super League club and a Premier League football club and Everton’s strategy to continue to strengthen the bond with its supporters.
Richard Kenyon, Everton’s Director of Marketing and Communications, said of the launch: “We are really excited to be able to launch the Everton Business Club.
“We want to engage with the vibrant and strong business community here in Liverpool and provide a completely new networking forum, which combines two of the most important institutions in the city – football and business.
“Our vision is to extend the already strong Everton community into the business world and create a network which facilitates opportunities for its members in a familiar and enjoyable environment.
“The launch went very well, with our two guest speakers holding a captive audience. We hope this is just the start of a very successful endeavour.”
