Tue 24th Nov 2015 | Football Industry Events

streetfootballworld Festival 16, the biggest ‘football for good’ festival ever and an official event of the EURO 2016, was officially launched yesterday (23rd Nov).

The streetfootballworld Festival 16 will be the biggest ever football for good festival and is an official event of the UEFA EURO 2016. Its stars are the young people from disadvantaged communities all over the world who have earned their place on the pitch through their commitment to changing the world through football.

The festival will take place in the heart of Lyon, France from June 28th to July 7th 2016 and will feature a street soccer tournament played by football3 rules designed to promote tolerance and youth leadership alongside an educational and cultural exchange programme.

The Festival 16 Kick-Off was hosted by Philippe Oddou (Sport dans la Ville) and Vladimir Borkovic (streetfootballworld) and featured special guests including Thierry Braillard (Secretary of Sport for the French Government), Jacques Lambert (President of the EURO 2016), Jean-Michel Aulas (President of Olympique Lyonnais), Ludovic Giuly (Ambassador of the UEFA Foundation for Children), Nabil Fékir and Sarah Bouhaddi (football players for Olympique Lyonnais).

During the event special guests highlighted the importance of football as a driver for social change and the potential of the Festival 16 to send a message of global cooperation.

To conclude the event, the EURO 2016 mascot Super Victor and youth from Sport dans la Ville cut a ribbon to officially launch Festival 16. The excitement among the youth attending the Kick-Off was palpable and around the world outstanding young leaders are preparing for the trip of a lifetime to France next summer to demonstrate how they use football to change their communities.
