Innovative Platform Changing Injury Prevention Thinking

Wed 13th Jan 2016 | IT & Technology

Kitman Labs, Silicon Valley’s leading sports science technology company, today announced the official launch of its Athlete Optimization System™, a groundbreaking platform that is helping the world’s elite sports teams win by reducing injury risk and increasing player availability.

Athlete OSTM enables elite professional sports teams to understand how athletes are responding to stress, while gaining comprehensive insights into each athlete’s health, performance and injury risk.

The integrated system brings together the three components of Kitman Labs’ software technology by helping teams, coaches and trainers make sense of data being collected. One of those components, Capture, is an industry first, enabling coaching staffs to collect biomechanical data without using markers  - within seconds per athlete.

“Athlete OS™ enables our customers to gain actionable insights and make informed decisions on player health,” said Stephen Smith, Founder and CEO of Kitman Labs.

“With our integrated system, we’re bringing efficiency to a process that historically took way too much time for teams.  Athlete OS™ helps teams to optimize athlete performance and reduce the threat of injury, and ultimately increase their chances of winning.”

Athlete OS™ is made up of three integrated components that seamlessly work together to deliver real-time actionable insights, including:

- Capture - the world’s first validated markerless motion capture product for sport. Capture allows coaches to perform biomechanical assessments in a matter of seconds for a process that previously required an entire team in a lab with expensive equipment.

- Athlete - a fully customizable mobile app that enables athletes to quickly provide individualized wellness and psychological data to the coaching staff.

- Profiler - the analytics engine at the heart of Athlete OS™. Profiler integrates data collected from Capture, Athlete and other data sources and makes all the data actionable in the form of individualized alerts. The intelligence behind these alerts is based on documented research developed by Kitman Labs’ team of sports and data scientists, and utilizes machine-learning algorithms to diagnose and uncover each athlete’s unique stress response.

Teams already using the Kitman Labs Athlete Optimization System™ include the Detroit Pistons of the NBA, the Miami Dolphins of the NFL, Everton FC and Norwich City FC of the Barclays Premier League, and the Irish national rugby team.
