The Football Association renews Tickets for Troops pledge

Mon 1st Feb 2016 | Football Governance

The Football Association has renewed its support for the British Armed Forces by donating tickets to the troops for England football matches for the seventh year through military charity Tickets For Troops.

One thousand troops and their families have been invited to watch England v Netherlands at Wembley Stadium on 29 March for the Three Lions’ first international fixture of the year on home soil.

The FA is a long-standing supporter of Tickets for Troops and have provided thousands of opportunities for military personnel, their families and close friends to enjoy watching the national side play for their country.

Many troops who benefit from the charity endure long periods of separation from their families due to operational tours, cutting leave short to assist communities with floods or living apart from their families during the week.

Veronica Bamford, director of operations at Tickets For Troops said “We are extremely proud to be able to distribute such a huge number of football tickets to our servicemen and women thanks to the enormous support of The FA.

"Since 2009, they have donated over 30,000 tickets to our troops for international matches demonstrating their overwhelming support for our Armed Forces.”

Tickets For Troops was set up in 2009 to provide free tickets to the Armed Forces for sports, music, theatre, cultural and entertainment events across the UK.

The charity has distributed over 830,000 free tickets in the last six years and is proud to offer tickets to troops which they can share with their loved ones, as a small acknowledgement and reward for the work they do for our country.

Tickets are available for current serving members of the Armed Forces and those who have been medically discharged since 2001. Individuals can apply for tickets online at www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk.
