Arsenal Fans Warned About Counterfeit Tickets

Wed 17th Feb 2016 | Safety & Security

Arsenal are warning fans to be aware of counterfeit membership cards and matchday tickets after an increasing number of fans have been found in possession of the items.

The Gunners, who face Barcelona in the Champions League next Tuesday, issued a statement warning fans to be aware of the problem after a number of people were turned away from the Emirates Stadium gates in possession of the counterfeit cards and tickets.

The statement released by the club read: “The club is aware that a number of counterfeit membership cards and tickets have been presented at the turnstiles at recent matches at Emirates Stadium.

“The holders of these counterfeit cards have unfortunately been declined entry into the stadium, some having travelled significant distances.”

The club is now urging supporters not to purchase tickets on the secondary market or through any unknown source.

“A number of companies and individuals do advertise on the internet claiming to provide official Arsenal tickets. However, Arsenal Football Club tickets are only available through the channels outlined on Arsenal.com.

“We would like to stress to all supporters that the unauthorised sale or disposal of football tickets is a criminal offence under section 166 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, as amended by the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006.

“We have taken advice from the police, who suggest that anyone living in the UK who has fallen victim to purchasing counterfeit tickets should report this via the non-emergency telephone line 101 or to a local police station.”

The club’s supporters are being reminded that the Arsenal Ticket Exchange and Ticket Transfer services are in place for fans registered with the club’s membership scheme, to provide a secure service for supporters wishing to resell their season tickets to fellow members.

The club hopes that this service will assist in its objective of eradicating the unauthorised and illegal sale of tickets through touts. Supporters can find out more information about the two services by visiting: www.arsenal.com/ticketexchange.
