FIFA To Identify & Recruit Female Security Officers

Wed 17th Feb 2016 | Safety & Security

FIFA have said they will seek to recruit more female Security Officers in a bid to address the gender balance within the field of security.

With safety and security at football events across the world a high priority, FIFA’s latest endeavor involving all its member associations looks to enlarge the pool of trained FIFA Security Officers by identifying, recruiting and deploying female security professionals.

“In order to keep our pool of security experts who can officiate during FIFA events as FIFA security officers, the identification of new security officers, both female and male, is amongst our top priorities,” explained Ralf Mutschke, FIFA Director Security.

“As we are currently lacking, particularly female FIFA Security Officers, we launched this initiative, involving all our member associations.”

Deborah Doe, one of the few women who acts as a FIFA Security Officer in international events, said: "In the last few years there has been a transition in security for women.

"It is now important to raise awareness within the Member Associations that there’s a need to address a gender balance in this field."
