The Future of Football Stadia to be discussed at Soccerex

Wed 21st Sep 2016 | Football Industry Events

The world of football stadia and its future state will be debated at the Soccerex Global Convention, 26th-28th September, Manchester.

A panel of experts will include Athletic Bilbao Stadium Director, Borja Gonzalez, Andy Simons, Founding Director of KSS, and Ruben Reddy, owner of specialists in sports architecture, Ruben Reddy Architects.

Moderated by Lisa Knights, Communications Director at Bristol Sports, the main discussion topics will include stadia technology, the impact of stadia on future major events and also the future landscape of club stadia.

Borja Gonzalez’s role at Athletic Bilbao involves overseeing and managing the stadium activity which takes place at their ground, the San Mamés Stadium.

Founding Director of KSS, Andy Simons will also be sharing the experiences gained from working on projects such as Wimbledon's Number 1 Court, Brighton and Hove Albion FC's Amex Stadium and the main stand concourses at home of Liverpool FC, Anfield.

Ruben Reddy, whose company Ruben Reddy Architects are a prestigious presence in the sports architecture sector having worked on a variety of world cup stadia projects as well as a number of health facilities and public sector buildings.

The session's moderator, Lisa Knights, also brings a wealth of experience to the panel having previously worked as an anchor at Sky, BBC and ITN and she is currently Communications Director at Bristol Sport, the organisation that oversees the business, commercial and operational interests of Bristol's affiliated sports clubs, including a new multimillion pound Stadium that will service Bristol City FC and Bristol Rugby Club.

The session itself will be engaging with a variety of stadia's hottest topics including the impact technology has had on the industry, how stadiums can be revolutionised for maximum revenue generation and the introduction of a new wave of sustainable stadia.

With it being such an interesting time for stadia design given the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar, there will also be a focus on the plans put in place to build and expand stadia in the region.

This session will be contributing to a thought provoking programme at The Global Convention, which as a whole is designed to deliver unique business insight across a variety of key sectors and subject matters ranging from sponsorship and fan engagement to technological innovations and stadium development.
