Everton Nominated For Six Football Business Awards

Thu 22nd Sep 2016 | Football Industry Events

Everton Football Club and Everton in the Community have been nominated for a total of six awards after being shortlisted across the board at the 2016 Football Business Awards.

The Blues have been nominated in a number of different categories at the prestigious event after successful nominations for both the club and its official charity.

Everton’s record breaking Season Ticket campaign is up for the award of Best Marketing Initiative. The club devised the campaign around the well-known Alan Ball quote, "Once Everton has touched you nothing will be the same".

Known as the People’s Club, Everton are nominated for the Best Fan Engagement award for the partnership work the club has undertaken with its Fans’ Forum.

The past twelve months has seen the Forum develop a wider working remit with the club as fans help shape club policy on fan-related matters as well as leading on a number of club/fan related projects.

The club’s themed matchdays have been nominated for the Best Matchday Experience award. The nomination highlighted the work the Blues have done to celebrate their junior supporters with Junior Fan Day.

The fixture against Arsenal saw a full matchday dedicated to young Evertonians with a handful of Junior Season Ticket holders given the chance to shadow members of staff throughout their day giving them exclusive access around Goodison Park.

Goodison Park is the oldest purpose built football stadium in the world and the home of the Blues is nominated for the Best non-Match Day use of a Venue. The award nomination is for the spectacular WBC title fight that took place at Goodison Park in May.

Everton in the Community’s ground-breaking work across Merseyside has also been recognised with the pioneering sporting charity being shortlisted in two categories; Best Football Community Scheme – Premier League and Best Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme.

Everton in the Community delivers over 50 programmes tackling a range of social issues prevalent across Liverpool and supports the most vulnerable and underprivileged members in the community.

The club’s contribution to the local community, specifically around Goodison Park, has also been recognised following the appointment of a Neighbourhood Manager, the first Premier League club to do so.

Now in its fifth year, the Football Business Awards celebrates excellence and acknowledges the unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes to shape the football industry.

The awards recognise the essential role that business plays in football, the positive impact of football on the community and the vital role played by the businesses which serve the game.

A panel of 32 judges will face the difficult task of determining the winners from the shortlists, with the Blues up against tough competition in all categories, including from a number of Premier League rivals such as Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

The black tie event will take place on Thursday 3 November at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium. For more information on the awards please click here.
