Sky Sports Offer Fans Spidercam Perspective

Thu 12th Jan 2017 | Television & Broadcasting

Fans will be given a different perspective of Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford this weekend thanks to Spidercam.

Sky Sports will create a Premier League first this weekend as Spidercam features for the first time in England’s top flight as Manchester United take on Liverpool.

New equipment has been installed at Old Trafford as part of wall-to-wall coverage for the game on Sunday and Spidercam will bring new angles to the live coverage, with fans at home able to see the game from a brand new perspective.

Sky Sports head of football Gary Hughes said: “Sky Sports will pull out all the stops to create the best possible experience for our viewers.”

Spidercam, often seen at sporting events around the world, is a system which enables film and television cameras to move both vertically and horizontally over a predetermined area, typically the playing field of a sporting event such as a cricket pitch, football field or a tennis court.
