Thu 30th Mar 2017 | Football Industry Events

Sports Leaders, Health Professionals and CSR Practitioners Gather at Emirates Stadium this April for European Healthy Stadia Conference 2017.

The full programme of speakers has now been released for the European Healthy Stadia Conference which will be held on 27th April at Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium.

This will be the fourth international conference held by Healthy Stadia, and will celebrate 10 years of the European Healthy Stadia movement with over 250 delegates attending on the day.

The conference is now considered the principal symposium and networking space for professionals involved in the cross-cutting fields of sport, health and community development, but will also be of interest to those working in CSR and sport, facilities management, catering and sustainability in sport.

With an opening address from Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis, the 2017 conference will feature a wide range of plenary and breakout sessions led by national and European governing bodies of sport, clubs, foundation trusts, stadium operators and national government, including:

  • Arsenal FC
  • UEFA
  • English Premier League
  • FIFA
  • FC Club Brugge
  • Portuguese Football Federation
  • FC Feyenoord
  • EU Sport Unit
  • European Club Association
  • KNVB
  • Norwegian Football Federation
  • Everton in the Community
  • KAA Gent
  • World Heart Federation

The 2017 edition of the conference will have a specific focus on the growing interaction between research, policy and practice in the field of Healthy Stadia, in particular the business benefits for clubs and governing bodies through engagement in development of health promoting sports venues.

As part of the event UEFA will review the impact of its sustainability and social responsibility projects at EURO 2016, whilst FIFA will launch its new tobacco-free tournaments policy which will feature at FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.

Speaking about the conference, Patrick Gasser, Senior CSR Manager at UEFA said: “UEFA is pleased to support the European Healthy Stadia Network and its Conference.

“Football stadia have always served as a vital gathering point for the local community, bringing people together regardless of their background.

“Today, Europe’s football stadia are rightly adding public health to the social functions that they fulfil, and the Healthy Stadia Network is helping to make that happen."
